Ashley recaps the day 365 continuous movement celebration on Monday, then describes struggling Tuesday through Thursday with physical/medical issues that limited her to yoga and stretching.
I guess you could say it's a different kind of
pain. What's up my movers and shakers? Famous
Ashley Grant here. Welcome to More Movement Please,
the podcast where I hope to inspire you to move
your body more. So today I want to talk about
what happened yesterday. Yesterday I went on
a paddleboarding slash kayaking excursion with
one of my gym buddies, Kara. Kara, if you're
listening to this, my arms are... absolutely
killing me right now. And as you said, I did
this to myself. So basically what happened was
this week was the week that I did the big celebration
for day 365 of continuous movement for the year.
On Monday, we had that amazing day where I worked
out a lot and went to lunch and just had a glorious
day of movement and meals. And it was wonderful.
And then Tuesday through Thursday, y 'all, I
was on the struggle bus something awful. I've
been telling you guys that I've been having some
physical issues, some medical stuff that's going
on. And all I could really do this week was some
yoga and stretching. And I just have been in
some pain. And I'm trying to deal with it. I'm
trying to work through it. My gym mom, as I love
to call her, is basically telling me that I need
to go to the doctor. But I'm the type of person
that I try to avoid the doctor as much as humanly
possible. And I might have no choice at this
point, but that's where I'm at. But the plan
was yesterday to go to Lake Laurel and paddleboard
and or kayak throughout the day. And my hope
Ashley describes the paddleboarding and kayaking trip to Lake Laurel with gym buddy Kara, realizing how out of shape she is after solo-paddling a kayak for the first time and getting outpaced by Kara.
was that I could, you know, basically use that
as a kickstart to heal myself to feel better.
and I did get in a lot a lot a lot of movement
it was wonderful it was a great day it was overcast
so it was like like good weather to be out on
the lake and I gotta tell y 'all I have not kayaked
in almost 20 years and yeah it felt like a first
time experience um and that if we're being honest
it really was the first time in the sense that
I was the only one in control of my kayak I have
been on like little water adventures with my
husband before, but normally he and I are riding
tandem. And so I'm not the only one in charge
of the paddle. And unfortunately, this time I
was and it hurt. Like I use muscles I haven't
used in for freaking ever. And yeah, Kara was
definitely outpacing me. She that girl is a beast.
She loves to suffer and she can work out so well.
She's very athletic and I am not. I'm trying
to get in shape still, but I'm definitely not
there. And I learned just how out of shape I
still am on the water yesterday. And so like
a crazy person, I had my day on the water. I
think we were out there about four hours on the
water. We had done a half a Zumba class before
we went to the lake. And then after that, came
home, passed out, and then... Like I said, like
a crazy person went to the gym today. I went
and did Zumba and then low impact cardio and
toning. And then I finished it out with yoga.
And I got to say, thank God for yoga, because
I think that's the only thing that has saved
me right now. Like I feel wide eyed and bushy
tailed, but who knows? I might be in a, you know,
coma the rest of the day because I'm really hurting.
I'm really sore, but it's a good kind of sore
and it's a good kind of pain. And as we've talked
about on the podcast, just like Miss Rhonda,
I would rather be in pain from. working my body
than from just sitting still. And that's definitely
something that I've been dealing with is, you
know, getting really sore from just sitting around
working. And I'm still trying to be better about
getting up throughout the day. And I plan on
doubling down on that in the coming weeks. And
I'm still gearing up for Gen Con. So I've definitely
Despite being very sore, Ashley went back to the gym the following day for Zumba, low-impact cardio, toning, and yoga, and reflects on how two days of constant movement have her feeling better and hopeful she's on the mend.
got to get some walking in because y 'all. everybody's
telling me that I need to be prepared to walk
11 ,000 steps a day. And we're planning on being
there for the full four -day stretch. And now
my husband's telling me that he might want to
do some additional excursions after the conference.
So there's that. But yeah, I'm really sore today,
but I'm feeling a little bit better than I felt
all week. I have to say like these two days of
constant movement have been a very good thing
for me. So I'm hopeful that that means that I'm
on the mend. I just don't know yet. I'm trying
to figure things out, trying to figure out what's
going on with my body. But yeah, so just wanted
to share that, yeah, I had a wild day on the
lake and I didn't make it to the paddleboard
because I just didn't think I'd have the stability
to stand up on the board. So I mainly focused
on the kayak and my husband did try the paddleboard
and it didn't go well. So he ended up in a kayak
as well. But we're very grateful that we have
friends that were willing to take us out on the
lake. Oh my goodness. It was just, it was such
a great day and we were nervous whenever we first
went because it was very sunny and very hot.
But luckily by the time we got there, it was
overcast and yeah, we just had a great time.
Overall, it was a fantastic couple of days and
I'm grateful that I didn't die once again. That's
Ashley announces she's handing the mic over to guest hosts for a takeover series for a couple of weeks, and promotes the newly launched Patreon with free and paid tiers including bootcamps, worksheets, and exclusive content with Rhonda.
kind of become a running joke at this point that
I didn't die. But, um, but it's true. Like, cause
there are moments where when you're working as
hard as I have been, it feels like, oh man, this
next rep might kill me. But, Luckily, I'm okay
and I survived it and I want more and more movement,
please. I mean, that's what this whole thing's
all about, right? But yeah, so also just wanted
to give you guys a heads up. This will be the
last episode that you'll hear me throughout the
whole episode for a couple of weeks. I am going
to be handing over the mic to a couple of people
that I have entrusted to do a takeover series.
Basically, I, you know, now that we have hard
launched the Patreon. I want to build it out
with some amazing content. And the truth is,
because I have so much going on, I simply do
not have time to do all the things. So I'm allowing
some folks to take over the podcast for a few
weeks, a couple of few weeks. I'm not sure how
long this will take, but I'm going to try to
get back on the mic as quickly as I can. If I
have some time, I'll start recording again, but
we'll see what happens. But just wanted to give
you guys a heads up that for the next couple
of weeks, there will still be content, but it
will not be all me. And that's kind of honestly
what I had said I wanted from the beginning.
I told you. guys, you guys, I had wanted this
to be a movement of movement. I didn't want this
to just be about me. Yes, it did begin as a.
you know, diary of what was going on and what
I was experiencing, but I really want it to be
more than just me. That's part of why we started
doing the voice notes in the first place. And
I've got some amazing content coming out with,
with Rhonda. I mean, she is, she's got some great
stuff that's going to be in the Patreon. We've
got exclusive episodes that have never been on
this podcast. And then in the higher paid tiers,
we have some awesome content to basically give
you more support. There's Rhonda's bootcamps
are coming out. We've already released three
of them. You can buy them for $5 a piece, or
if you join the... the $15 a month tier, you
can get everything that we release for the month,
including worksheets and boot camps and all the
things. So there's so many amazing things that
are coming to the Patreon. I am so excited to
put it in there and get the content ready to
go. You can still join completely for free. We
will be having a fitness planner that is coming
out as well as accountability posts and this
podcast feed. All of that will be in the free
tier. That will not change. I will make sure
it continues to be free. So I just wanted to
let you guys know that if you want more community
and more accountability, because I'm a community
girly, I love the accountability that I have
had, and I want to give that to you guys as well.
So please join us over at famousastrogrant .com
backslash group. I would love to have you all
in the community. And onwards and upwards, my
friends. Have you worked out today?
