I Walked Out of Zumba, and I Hate That I Had To

▸ Show notes from the creator
I had to walk out of my favorite Zumba class with ten minutes left because I thought I was going to pass out. If you've ever felt your body stop cooperating when all you want to do is move, this update is for you. I'm sharing what's going on with my health right now, including the ultrasound results, why I'm still so run down, and why I'm committed to moving anyway (gently, and only as far as my body allows). Regression hurts more than a tough set of reps, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. This is an honest, no-filter check-in on fitness, frustration, and staying active when you're not at your best. You'll also hear why staying active has been the one thing getting me through, how I'm adjusting my workouts instead of quitting them, and how you can share your own health story on the show. Send me a voice note at famousashleygrant.com/fitness and I'd love to feature you. Whether you're recovering, starting over, or feeling stuck, you're not alone in this. Press play, and then tell me: have you worked out today? ⚠️This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. So I just had to walk out of Zumba. What's up my movers and shakers? Famous Ashley Grant here. Welcome to More Movement Please, the podcast where I hope to inspire you to move your body more. So I just had to walk out of a Zumba class. And if you've been following this podcast for any length of time, you know that Zumba is my favorite class. And so to walk out of that one really sucks. I've been dealing with some health issues. been as transparent as I can about that on this show and just telling y 'all what's going on. I had an ultrasound yesterday and though the technician said she couldn't give me any diagnoses, she did say that there were cysts on both my ovaries and fibroids. So I don't know what's going to happen next. I just know that I'm still feeling very rundown and I know that it's probably because of just how much blood I lost and I'm probably still trying to come.
00:52
you know, back to normal levels and all that good stuff. But, but man, I just, I was getting to the point where even though there were only 10 minutes left of class, I had to walk out and try to catch my breath. And I tried to catch my breath, came back to class, was going to try another dance. And I literally was just like, I'm going to pass out if I do. So I made the very difficult and unfortunate decision to get up and, or not get up. I was already standing, but. made the difficult and unfortunate decision to walk out. And I hate that. I absolutely hate whenever I can't work out, which is so funny because like, you know, three years ago, walking out of Zumba, I would have just been like, well, it is what it is. But now I'm, I get really upset when I can't work out. I get really upset whenever I struggle. And if it was struggling from the sense of, you know, I'm holding dumbbells and struggling to get the next rep, that'd be one
01:45
thing, because at least that would feel like progress. This feels like regression and it's frustrating as hell. Like I can't stand how I'm feeling because I seriously felt like I was back to three years ago whenever I had just started. And I know they say that, you know, whenever you are trying to work out and you start struggling, that sometimes if you take a couple of days off that it can be like resetting the clock as it were. And so you could struggle more. But damn, y 'all, like I just I was really hoping that I could actually get through the class and feel stronger. I will say that I as I've said, I think that, you know, the fact that I have been so active is the only thing that has gotten me through how rough this illness has been. And I just and I mean, you can't even call it an illness, can you? I don't even know if you can call it an illness. I just know that I have felt like crap
02:36
and I have felt like my body is betraying me. Like that's the best way I can describe it is I literally feel like, you know. I'm having to fight to to survive like oh god that sounds so dramatic but um but yeah just like I I haven't felt this run down in a long long time like I mean I've had colds and whatever and I've had you know issues where I'm I'm down for the count for a couple of days but Oh, it's been rough and I'm I'm over this. I'm so I've been saying this all week. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired because I just I feel so low energy and I'm trying to get back at myself. I'm trying to do whatever I got to do. But. So, yeah, that's that's the update. It's Friday, 925. So it is Dolly Parton Day. Happy 925 day, everyone. You're going to be hearing this on Monday. I think it's the 28th, but. But yeah, recording this on Valley Parton Day and just really hoping that I can get this under control. I have my next doctor's
03:43
appointment following up from the first appointment on October 19th, I believe it is. And still waiting on my blood test results. I can't believe it's taking this long. They said that I'd have my ultrasound results any day now. So I just had the ultrasound yesterday. So just waiting to get the official, you know, update on everything. But yeah, I just I've been going through the motions and going through it and doing everything that I can to feel as good as possible. I'm I'm just frustrated because I'm struggling with work.
04:16
I'm struggling with working out and I'm struggling with just staying awake. Like I yesterday I after I did the senior fit class because I took a senior fit class yesterday because I just I was too nervous to take Tabata. Even after the senior fit class, when I got home, I passed out. I like I mean, I passed out in the sense that I like lost consciousness. I got so cold and so tired and I just was like, oh, my God, I have to lay down. And so I did. And and I was shaky for like an hour after. And I just I don't like feeling this way. And I don't like when people have to worry about me and ask me if I'm OK, because that and thank you to the people that were. I mean, I really appreciate you guys. And just I hate that you have to. I hate that you had to ask me if I'm all right, because I'm I don't know, I'm a very stubborn, independent person.
05:02
And so whenever I can't do what I want to do, I get very upset. Anybody who knows me knows that I just I want to do what I want to do. And I don't want anybody to tell me I can't. And so, yeah, walking out of Zimba really sucked. And I don't want that anymore. I want to get well. So I'm I'm going to head home and just kind of regroup and figure out my best next steps. And yeah, hopefully I'll get my test results soon. but I'm going to keep moving like until they tell me I can't, I'm going to keep moving and trying to at least be as healthy as I can be. Because as I've mentioned before, I think the fact that I am moving so much is the only thing getting me through this. So though I was down for the count for almost nine days and where I couldn't move, I was wanting to, and I feel like I need to, like, I feel like I need to keep moving. Even though, you know, I probably shouldn't go hard and I won't go hard, but I will keep
05:54
moving because I feel better when I do. Like, even though right now I'm so out of breath and I'm struggling to be fully okay, it beats the alternative, right? It beats the alternative of not working out at all and just being bedridden because that sucks worse. So, yeah, I am. I think that's my game plan for the day. I'll keep you guys posted as always. And I still have a lot of content in the queue that I just can't wait to record. And I'm very excited to share it with you guys. So hopefully I can get my act together and just get through this. But yeah, that's my status update for the day. I'm curious as to what your health journey is looking like. I would really love to hear from y 'all. If you are on a health journey yourself and you're trying to lose weight or trying to get strong or trying to whatever, I would love to hear about it. If you go to famousashleygrant .com backslash fitness,
06:52
there's a form there where you can send me a voice note and I'd love to feature you on the show and just talk about what. what your journey is looking like, because the whole point of this is that I don't want it to be just about me. I want it to be about so much more than that. I've really been saying that I want this to be a community of movement. I want it to be a movement of movement. And so I would just love to feature you guys and tell the world, you know, what it is that you're going through, because I think the biggest problem whenever we're trying to work out and we're trying to get healthier is we feel so alone. And I don't want anyone to feel like they're alone because you're not. You're not the only one on this journey. You're not the only one trying to improve your health and trying to make yourself better. And so I just I get such a kick out of whenever y 'all send me voice notes. Like, I mean, I know I've mainly
07:36
gotten fitness experts so far, but I just love hearing what everybody else is going through. I mean, it's just it fascinates me. Maybe it's because I'm nosy. Maybe it's because I'm a Leo. I'm not sure. But I just, I love hearing it and I want more. So please, famousastrogram .com backslash fitness. Onwards and upwards, my friends. Have you worked out today?
