I tried them. I tried some protein waffles. What's up you guys? Famous Ashley Grant here. Welcome to More Movement Please, the podcast where I hope to inspire you to move your body more. Today I want to talk about protein waffles or protein pancakes. Basically both because that was the mix is it was a protein pancake and waffle mix and I wanted to share what happened whenever I tried it. So a company sent me a bag of mix and I believe the brand was called Amasar. I'll have to put it in the show notes, but they sent me a bag of it to try. And I had said that I wanted to be y 'all's guinea pig and try stuff for you so you didn't have to basically. And I wanted to know, like, was it worth the hype?
00:47
And that was the whole goal of me trying these protein waffles. I chose waffles because I personally like waffles better than pancakes. I have to really be in the mood for pancakes in order to eat pancakes. And since I really wasn't, I did waffles. And I will tell you this, the brand was decent. It was good. It was, they tasted like, like. Whole grain waffles. That's the best way I can put it is they tasted like whole grain waffles. They were fluffy. They cooked really well. The ingredients were under easy to understand the instructions of how to make it was easy to understand. But here's where things kind of went off course for me. I when I tried them, I was looking at the ingredients and it versus my homemade waffles. And the truth is that protein wise, as I was looking at it, they were pretty much the same. I mean. It was like five grams of protein in my regular waffles that I make from scratch
01:43
versus about six and a half grams for the ones that were in this bag. And well, in the mix. And the problem I have with that is though the ingredients were considered more whole foods and better for you, healthier, et cetera, et cetera. I'm acutely aware of how. broke people are I mean that's the best way to put it is groceries are damn expensive y 'all and this this little package of mix was $12 and so the way that it shook out is my homemade you know from scratch waffles are about I'd say 20 cents per waffle these were almost a dollar and When I'm looking at the numbers of five grams of protein versus six and a half grams of protein, y 'all, I'm sorry, I just can't justify spending that kind of money for protein waffles, especially when it didn't seem like it was that much more in terms of protein. And, you know, even if I was trying really hard to meet my protein goals.
02:54
Which I don't really have any protein goals. And I know that there's probably some people hearing this going, oh, my goodness, you need to have protein goals. Yeah, I just I can't see myself justifying that kind of a jump in price. And especially since I had to make them from scratch anyway, like maybe if they'd already been made. Like I know that supposedly there's protein waffles you can get that are in the freezer section. That is very different from I have to make it myself. If I'm having to make it myself anyway. I don't know, guys, I just can't justify that kind of a cost jump. And especially, you know, with groceries being as expensive as they are, I mean, Lord have mercy. And it's like when you're looking at the ingredients, does it really matter that much? I don't know. Not for me personally.
03:37
So that's kind of what happened and how I feel about it. I'm still willing to try new things. I'm still willing to check things out. I mean, I know that. One of the things that people are telling me is that there are certain protein shakes, like I've been recommended the Fairlife protein shake many times. I'm curious about that and would like to try it because, you know, at least that's something that's already made and you can take it on the go. So maybe that is something I should try just to kind of help, you know, if I if I'm hungry and I don't want to go through the drive through that kind of thing. But again, as I've said from the beginning, I'm never going to be the girl that's telling you, you know, you know, you have to meet a certain calorie content or. or calorie count or protein count or any of that, because I am simply not a diet culture girly. And I just, I tried that, been there, done that, didn't work, didn't like it,
04:23
did all the shots and pills. And I never want to do that again, but I am totally willing to try new things and then tell you guys how I feel about it. Famousashtagrant .com backslash PR. And if you hit me up there, we can talk about things I can try. you know, and I'll let you know what I think. Cause I'm, I'm really game to be your guinea pig. I get a kick out of learning new things. I used to have a column back when I was in Tampa, it was called my first time.
04:50
And it was about my first time doing things I'd never done before. And so I love the idea of being the girl in the hot seat and then sharing what I'm going through, what I feel. I mean, that's the whole point of starting this podcast, right? Is to, is to tell you guys what I'm going through. So, so yeah, if you would like to. you know, send me something to try. And for the purposes of review, I would love to just try all the things.
05:11
Well, within reason, there's some things I'm still going to say no to, like anything lemon, don't even bother. You'll get a bad review and I don't want to do that to you. So yeah, there are some things I will say no to, but I'm definitely down to be y 'all's guinea pig. So hit me up, famousashleygrant .com backslash PR. Onwards and upwards, my friends. Have you worked out today?
